Where do your tax-free donations go?
When a Dachshund comes to our rescue group, we do much more than just spay or neuter and provide a rabies vaccine. Our vets do a thorough examination to check the general health of each dog. Vaccines are given, heartworm tests and dental exams are done as well as any blood tests deemed necessary in each case. Sometimes the dogs are in great shape and have no further medical needs, but more often than not, there are issues to address - long neglected dental problems, skin conditions, excess weight, underlying health issues, and the list goes on.
Dachshunds are also prone to disc or back injuries. When that is the case, we provide surgical intervention for our rescues on an emergency basis. Fortunately this does not happen often, but when it does, diagnostics, the procedure and follow-up care can easily exceed $5,000 dollars!
This list is by no means all-inclusive; other things come up and need to be treated in order to know that every Dachshund Lovers of Texas dog is truly fully-vetted and is in the best shape possible.
All donations are tax-deductible and 100% of your donations go to the care of the rescued Dachshunds.
