February 6, 2023 - Red Duke came to us about seven years ago. He had a very difficult case of bladder stones and managed to recover from surgery, but was always prone to UTI problems and needed special food and care. Red Duke had also been diagnosed with cancer recently, and unfortunately it was very aggressive and despite surgery he crossed the rainbow bridge. Run free, Red, you are loved and missed.❤️ January 17, 2023 - Cookie came to us years ago in terrible condition. Thanks to some good veterinary care and TLC from her foster family Cookie recovered well enough to be comfortable and happy. Initially we tried to find her a forever home but two things became obvious: First, there weren't any adopters lining up to adopt a sweet senior who was dealing with some high maintenance needs. Second and more important, we found that Cooke and her foster family all agreed she was already where she belonged. Cookie crossed the bridge recently peacefully, and we are privileged to have had her in our care... Thank you to our wonderful supporters who have made it possible to help Cookie, as well as many other deserving Dachshunds. ❤️ August 30, 2022- Patches was a long--term sanctuary dog who lived out her twilight years with love and comfort with her foster mom. ❤️ March 14, 2022: Several years ago Dekoda came to DLT confused, withdrawn, and underweight. His foster mom nurtured Dekoda, and in the years that followed the bond they formed became one of mutual affection. This love was enough to transform Dekoda's senior years from lacking to loving. Sadly she had to bid farewell to Dekoda today as he crossed the rainbow bridge. Our hearts go out to his foster mom in this time of loss. Run free, Dekoda, you are loved and missed... ❤️ August 16, 2021: It is with sadness that we post the unexpected loss of one of our sanctuary dogs, Max. He succumbed to renal failure and crossed the bridge today. Our sympathy to his family. Run free, Max, you are loved and will be missed... ❤️ Click a letter to find an animal or view all.
